American Legion Riders chapters are well known for their charitable work, which has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local children's hospitals, schools, veterans homes, severely wounded service members and scholarships. Since 2006, Riders nationwide have participated in the Legion Legacy Run, to annually raise money for the Legacy Scholarship Fund, established to provide scholarships to children of U.S. military personnel killed since Sept. 11, 2001.
The Tum Tum Chapter of the American Legion Riders was officially created when approx. half a dozen members of The American Legion Tum Tum Post #168 expressed a desire to formally start a chapter. At the September 2019 post meeting discussion ensued to do so. At the October meeting a formal vote of the members was taken to create the chapter and to elect a director. Eight members attended the first Riders Meeting on 02 November 2019, including two new members to the post and officers were elected for the chapter.
